Turning to a Firm Foundation

by Justin Linscheid on May 04, 2024

I was exercising on an exercise mat and the mat got very sweaty. I laid down in a push-up position and my hands were slipping and sliding all over the rubber mat because of my sweat. Gross, I know. But then the thought occurred to me to turn around and do my push-ups on the other side of the mat where I had not been working out. It was dry over there. I turned around and suddenly I had a dry and stable foundation.

When we come to Christ, we need to turn. We need to turn from the way we are facing and instead turn to Jesus. When we are walking apart from God, our foundation is slippery. But when we turn to God, He provides a stable foundation.

Isaiah 33:6 Prophesies about the Lord, “In that day he will be your sure foundation, providing a rich store of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge.”

When we trust in Jesus Christ, we have a secure and immovable foundation. Many things in this world will cause us to slip and slide all over the place. We need to turn to Jesus, again and again. In Him we will find all the salvation, wisdom, and knowledge we will ever need.
